Penwarren Guest House

WELCOME TO THE PENWARREN GUEST HOUSE

The ideal accommodation for "green" holidays

Penwarren is a friendly, relaxed guest house ideally situated in the heart of Falmouth, and within a few minutes walk of most amenities.

The harbour and town centre are only ten minutes away, and sandy beaches are within a stone's throw. The Woodlane campus of the renowned University College Falmouth is only a few minutes walk away making Penwarren an ideal place to stay if you are visiting family who are students.

There are many walks and trails close by and we are happy to cater for cyclists and walkers.

Entertainment is available within two minutes of Penwarren at the Princes Pavilion Theatre (part of the Gyllingdune Gardens Complex), and there is a wealth of things to do in the area.

Penwarren Guest House - Falmouth

Relaxation is essential, whether you are on holiday or on a business trip, and Penwarren will help you unwind.

Dining Room - local produce & fair tradeTo start your day, we recommend a traditional English Breakfast in our "infamous" dining room with the three red lights in the window.

We ARE just a guest house, but the three red lights have become something of a legend in the area and many of our guests tell their friends to look out for them when they recommend us.

The whole establishment is non-smoking, and we take great pride in our cleanliness.

The building was built in 1905, and was not built with "accessibility" in mind. We do not have any ground floor rooms but we are trying to improve accessibility in our accommodation for the less abled.

If you have any special requests, please advise us at the time of booking.

We use fresh, local produce and Fairtrade items whenever possible for all meals. We are happy to cater for vegetarians or those with special dietary needs.

If you have special dietary or other needs please contact us in advance.

We would like to mention that we actively source fair-trade and local produce.

We are also keen to do our bit towards maintaining the environment. We recycle and compost where ever possible, for example, last year our cereal waste included 960 portion size boxes plus inner plastic wrappers; this year we are reducing this waste with cereal dispensers. We buy milk from Devon in glass bottles as Cornwall does not have a facility to recycle plastic bottles, and the used plastic (water) bottles that we do have are given to local family centre to make instruments for children.

We are proud to announce that we got through to the final of the 'Cornwall Sustainable Awards' competition. Though we didn't win, we were short listed in the 'Under 20 Employees' section. Oh well, maybe next year ...

Green Tourism AwardBesides, winning an award isn't as important as doing the work that makes you eligible for the award!

We have also been awarded the Green Tourism Business Scheme Silver Award for having a business that prioritises environmental issues. We were the first business in Cornwall to receive the Green Tourism Business Scheme Accreditation - it's nice that someone appreciates the small effort we are making towards a better world.

We are currently using M & A Environmental cleaning products as they claim to be friendly on the environment.
